What are the most important things before you travel abroad
Are you traveling for work abroad? You must be excited about your upcoming adventure but don’t forget the important things before traveling abroad.
For your convenience, here is a list of subsections:
- Important documents and check-ups
- Medication
- Electronics
- Toiletries
- Budget
Passport and ID:
Always check if you have your passport/ID and make sure they are valid for at least another six months.
Driving license:
If you have to drive to your new job, make sure you have a valid driver’s license and if needed, get an international one.
In case you are traveling by car, have your car checked by a professional.
Boarding pass:
Print out your boarding pass or have a mobile version ready on your phone to save you time at the airport.
Certificates and diplomas related to work:
Always carry all certificates and diplomas or at least copies of all your important documents. If your working contract has been issued, we advise you to take it as well.
Travel insurance:
When travelling we strongly recommend a travel insurance in case of need. Travel insurance can cover your lost baggage, expenses related to delayed flights and some other emergency situations.
Debit or credit card
Medication:
If there’s any medication you rely on, make sure you research well in advance if it is available at your destination and whether you’ll need a prescription. If you are carrying any medicines, it is a good idea to pack it in hand baggage. This is important because sometimes your luggage gets delayed or misplaced. You’d not want your medicine to be misplaced with it.
Electronics:
The amount and type of electronics you’ll pack is totally up to you. Here are some of the most commonly packed items:
-Smartphone
-Laptop
-Charger and adapter
-Headphones
Toiletries:
Toiletries are very personal items, so you’ll have to decide what’s essential for you to pack. In general, most items are available around the world. However, here are some things you should consider bringing with you:
-Toothbrush and toothpaste
-Deodorant
-Soap, shampoo, conditioner
Budget:
This is particularly helpful if you will be spending extended time abroad. Research the cost of living in that particular country and see where your expenses will go every month: accommodation, food, transportation, entertainment. We would recommend taking between 300-500€.
We hope, you will find our list of important things helpful, and we wish you safe journey.
