Inflation in Europe
Dear subscribers,
The term ”inflation” and it´s affect has been one of the most discussed topics all over the world.
Of course, just like you, we also deal with this topic and, together with our clients, we do our best to reduce the impact of inflation.
Recently, we have received several questions from you in which you were asking about inflation is European countries. Because we understand the importance of these questions, we decided to write an article in which you will find answers to the most frequent questions from you.
One of the most common questions from you was: What does my future employer do to reduce the impact of inflation?
Our clients are mainly located in The Netherlands and Belgium, but we also have clients from other countries such as Finland, Ireland, Norway, Switzerland, or Germany.
Each country and client use different system and way to reduce inflation. However, the most asked questions were about The Netherlands and Belgium, so let us shortly provide you some information:
Belgium is known for using the so-called automatic wage indexation. What does that mean?
It means that salaries in Belgium will keep increasing automatically to make sure that your cost of living remains approximately the same.
In short term: the state regulation says that every employee will have a salary adjusted to inflation. This means that if inflation increases, the employee’s salary must be adjusted accordingly.
In case of The Netherlands – the state regulations have not changed, but the conditions of the employees have changed. The salary of the employees has increased and most of our clients also offer free accommodation, which means that the employees do not have to pay for accommodation and thus can save or use the money according to their need.
What is the price of fuel and is it worth traveling with my own car?
Recently, the prices of gasoline and fuel in general have been kept at the same price in between 1,70€ – 2,00€ per litre.
So far, the price in European countries is almost same, but for better overview you can find up-to-date information on following link: https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/
Sometimes we are receiving questions, whether it is good idea to travel with your own car. Well, if you´re not afraid of long-distance travelling, our answer would be YES. One of advantages of this is freedom – you can travel anytime and anywhere you want. Other advantages would be – relax during driving, finding new and interesting places or traveling also to other countries.
What are average costs of living in The Netherlands/Belgium?
The average costs of living always depends on you. As mentioned above, most of our clients offer you accommodation free of charge, what means that you can save around 700€ – 1000€ per month (depending on location). The costs of food are not that high so if you are earning around 2200€ per month (and you need to pay only for food and gas) you can easily save around 1200€ per month.
